Auburn
Curriculum Specialist invited Cristina Heffernan to do a 3 hour training on a pd day. After that a few teachers began to pilot the system. Cristina returned and discussed teaching strategies using ASSISTment. Cristina also met with the Middle school facutly during a morning planning period, the principal gave the teachers coverage so they could attend the training. Finally Cristina was invited to do a follow up training at another PD day in the Spring.
Oak Middle School
The story of Oak middle school is an interesting one. One teacher was enthusiastic about the program and used it for a year. Then another teacher became interested. Finally the whole 7th grade decided to send ASSIStments home for homework every night, they were trained to use a class by a graduate student at WPI. Most of the training was provided by one on one visits to help teachers get going. Cristina also came to talk to the departments during their department planning periods during the school day and at one of the monthly department meetings after school.
Grafton
School board memeber worked at WPI and learned about us. She introduced us to the Curriculum Director. Three teachers, the curriculum director and the Middle School Principal came to WPI to learn about the system. One month later Cristina visited the school and spoke to the whole faculty, the principal provided coverage for teachers so they could come to the meeting during school hours.
Milbury
Four teachers signed up for training at WPI. They came to campus for workshops and planned uses for ASSISTment in their classrooms. During the first year they struggled to develop routines and learn about all the available features in the system.
