Professional Development Points From the ASSISTment Project.

We are happy to provide PDP’s for teachers who are trained on using ASSISTment to do Data Driven Instruction. Teachers must do 10 hours of training and demonstrate that they have implemented a data collection routine with ASSISTment in their classroom. We give out PDP in chunks of 10 hours.

Here is how it works:

1. Keep track of 10 hours of Workshops or personal professional development time with Cristina or Neil.
2. Document that you have started to use ASSISTment in a routine in your class.
3. Once the Documentation has been submitted 10 PDP points will be awarded.

Here is a description of the documentation:

By the time you are ready to demonstrate your use of ASSISTment you will have completed 10 hours of Professional Development and have used ASSIStment in your class. Now all you have to do is document one snapshot of how you use the system. We have found that the best way to share how you use the system is by just telling the story of one moment in time. We have also found that a Power Point presentation is a good way to share your experience since it can easily be shown to a group of people. (you may even want to use it to share it with others who may want to know how you are using new technology in your classroom.

Most likely while doing your 10 hours of PD you will have heard about a Formative Assessment Cycle. If so use this structure of Learning Objective, Lesson, Assessment Repeat to share your ASSISTment routine. If you share one Formative Assessment cycle you will be able to give a little glimps into your use of ASSISTment. Be sure to include the questions you gave your students on ASSISTment that day a description of any teaching you did before or in response to the data collected and the data you used. Any other details of your routine would be great. As a provider of Professional Development Points, WPI needs to have this document and to grade before we give out PDP’s. The documentation is required but he mere submission of this document does not guarantee the PDPs. If it needs revisions we are happy to support you in any way necessary so you are eligible for PDPs.
