Tenure Track Position in Computer Science or Cognitive Science

Worcester Polytechnic Institute is creating a new PhD program in Learning Sciences and Technology (CLS&T), which will be an interdisciplinary program merging cognitive science, computer science and psychometrics. WPI anticipates hiring tenure-track faculty for the Fall of 2009. We anticipate hiring either a computer scientist or a cognitive scientist. We are interested in interdisciplinary candidates whose work involves technology-based learning sciences research. We are interested in researchers who construct technology-enabled interventions, conduct rigorous studies to evaluate such systems, or who develop computational approaches to better understand how the systems are impacting learners. We expect to hire at the assistant professor level. Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science, Cognitive Science or a closely related field, and the potential for excellence in research and teaching.

This highly selective PhD program in the CLS&T will draw top students from around the world. WPI is a nationally ranked, selective university with a student population of 4,450 including 1,300 fulltime and part-time graduate students. WPI is in Worcester, Massachusetts, the second largest city in New England. It is approximately one hour from both Boston and Providence; cultural and recreational resources abound in the region.
