Training Sessions

October 4th, 2011 Reception at WPI to celebrate our accomplishments and dream up new ways to use and share ASSISTments.

You are invited to an ASSISTments Showcase

Neil and Cristina Heffernan of WPI invite superintendents, principals, teachers, faculty, and our special guests to meet data-driven teachers who have powered their instruction using ASSISTments. ASSISTments was cited in the 2010 National Education Technology Plan as an exemplary model for improved teaching and learning that combines formative assessment and instructional assistance. At this event, guests will move from station to station throughout the Showcase and speak with real teachers who have become ASSISTments implementation experts, sharing both artifacts from their classroom and their adoption experiences. The ASSISTments resources are web-based and offered for FREE to any interested teacher. Discover how ASSISTments uses the latest in learning research and 21st century instructional delivery strategies to empower data-driven instruction.

Monday, October 3, 2011 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Worcester Polytechnic Institute Campus Center Odeum – 3rd Floor 100 Institute Rd. Worcester, MA 01609 RSVP here

Past ASSISTments in Action Events

ASSISTments in Action events are three hour-long sessions at a school where teachers using ASSISTments open their classrooms to visitors. The cooperating school hosts the event. The cooperating teachers present their work and then open their classrooms to observe students using ASSISTments.

School Administrators: For each "ASSISTments in Action" meeting, we hold a smaller (one hour long) break out group for School Administrators meant to help administrators learn why they should care about data driven instruction and ASSISTments. We will cover how you can use ASSISTments for common benchmark assessments for your school. We will talk about how school leaders can use ASSISTments to support professional learning communities looking at data. We will cover how you can use ASSISTments as a tool to collect data on how to guide your own school's reform.
