PIMSE 2011-12 Career Talk (11/21)
Description of Fellow's Teaching Routine
- Meet with Jorge on Thursday afternoons to find new content to assign
- Go around and help students work through problems and assist with any technical issues
- Looking for ways to efficiently give help to students. Repeating same tutoring with different students
- Only one hour, how to use it best?
- New tutor enabled for both classes to watch how kids are doing
- With Greg, splitting skill sets into levels (by difficulty) and assigning remedial work to students who need it mid-class
- Purpose is to identify which kids aren't understanding what mid-class. We want to create multiple paths (for remedial students and for proficient students)
- With Jorge, we are still trying different things and formulating a routine that works for us
- 3 assignments on current topics, one review assignment for next topic
- Pre/post test for every unit
- 2012-13: 7th graders, test on skills from 6th grade -> 7th grade basics -> remedial work (personalized educational pathway) -> collect data on old skills & new skills
