The Platform
ASSISTments is a platform that has "Libraries of Content. It's core functions are
- Build: To allow teachers to use tools - build or select questions for students (Instructions).
- Tutor: To allow students to get tutoring (Example).
- Assess: To allow teachers to get instant reports (Example).
Four main additional features
In addition to the core functions (e.g., Build, Tutor and Assess) the platform has four features that add a lot of useful functionality.
- Skill building sets and the Automatic Reassessment and Retraining System (ARRS): ASSISTments can give students just the right amount of practice, spaced out over time.
- Parent Notification: We have an extensive system that has been shown to increase homework completion rates.
- Data Driven: Action that allow teachers to individualize assignments based upon student data. This is a type of response to intervention support.
- Support for Open Ended Questions:ASSISTments provides a peer review system where you can have students peer review each other's open-ended questions to get all minds active.
